WHAT ARE TEAR TROUGHS AND HOW ARE THEY FORMED?

In the lower eyelid a weakening of the orbital septum, and in the cheek area (the “mid-face”) a loss of soft tissue volume, tend to accentuate the appearance of the lower bony orbital margin which lies between the lower eyelid and the cheek. This also leads to the appearance of lower eyelid fat pockets and together these can lead to a “tear trough” depression, or dark shadow or hollow.

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

Dr Singh uses small innovative micro cannulae to give precise injections of dermal filler along the eyelid hollows to reverse the effects noted above. This procedure should only be carried out by a an experienced advanced aesthetic practitioner such as Dr Singh.

DOES IT HURT?

No. Topical anaesthetic is also applied before the procedure. Also the dermal filler used contains a local anaesthetic – Dr Singh uses juvederm as his filler of choice but he also use other products depending on patients preference.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? AND HOW LONG TO THE RESULTS LAST?

Approximately 15-20 mins. Results last between 9-12months
